    Description

    G. L. Webster Canning Company Factory / Warehouse Cheriton, Virginia, Historical 1937 Virginia Insurance Rating Bureau Slips. These rating slips are historically significant, as they list factory, warehouse buildings, grader sheds, bunk houses, office and other structures, details that may have been long forgotten. It lists the manager of the canning company at that time and gives the reader a glimpse into the usage and some conditions of the structures from an insurance perspective.
    There are 9 Virginia Insurance Rating Bureau Slips printed on pink paper which was folded in half to form a loose booklet.
    G. L. Webster Company operations began in 1920, and successively increased until in 1930, and subsequently, it had become one of the largest, if not the largest, canning plant in the United States. It put up 18,000 cases of canned beans in 1920; 135,000 cases in 1921, and reached a peak of approximately 1,000,000 cases of peas, beans, other vegetables and vegetable juices in 1930. Since 1930, the output has been approximately the same.
    Condition is "Used". Some damage to the paper from age & improper storage.
