"THE SATELLITE BANK"
- 1950s Duro Mold & Mfg. Inc of Detroit. 3.5" diameter x 10". Glossy gold on metal.
We are offering a mechanical "rocket ship" bank titled "The Satellite Bank" in raised lettering under base.
To operate the spring-op device, a coin is loaded on the side slide mechanism and "shoots up" into the cone of the rocket when latch is released. The spring mechanism still operates well. A marble-like ball remains in top tip window area of rocket.
Outstanding "science fiction" stylized design (Buck Rogers style) with the spaceship standing on top of the earth.
Note: This was a savings bank premium labeled "The First Bank of Marianna, Florida" on base front. A great "SCI-FI" still bank design with excellent eye appeal.
Condition is considered GOOD to FAIR with miscellaneous surface/stain/edge wear. Moderate paint scuffing/flaking with no apparent oxidation. Original bottom trap & key is missing.
Overall, we feel this impressive figural still retains its striking visual charm and is a very displayable example by most standards (see photos).
It would make a great addition for the discriminating VINTAGE SCIENCE FICTION and/or ADVERTISING BANK MEMORABILIA enthusiast. On a condition code scale of 1 to 10, the above listed item(s) rated - (7-6).
