Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar MACRO Lens 5cm/3.5
Lens No: 3055960 - Made in Germany.  Carl Zeiss Jena.
Comes with front metal cap Carl Zeiss Jena. No back Cap.
Red Leica Display - NOT INCLUDED.
Lens body is rated at about 9/10 - shows minor signs of use.
Engraving on the lens are nice and deep.
Lens focuses from 1/2 size to Infinity.
Rear Mount on this lens is for Contax rangefinder camera.
It is part of the CONTAPROX kit, which is similar to Leica Visoflex system.  With the Contaprox kit, lens will work as a macro lens on Contax rangefinder camera.  I do not have that kit.
I added a Contax to Leica M adapter at the back.  With that the lens fits into Leica M camera and in Live view of my Leica M 240, I was able to take pictures.
I show the adapter that I used - IT IS NOT INCLUDED.  But if buyer wants it, write to me.  It will add 0 to the selling price.  I will modify the listing to include the adapter.
There is some literature available on the net for the Contaprox system.
LENS IS ALL METAL AND SUPERBLY CRAFTED IN CHROME.
Front data is marked Carl Zeiss Jena.
Tripod mount - which is a work of art - is marked ZEISS IKON STUTTGART  MADE IN GERMANY 563/04.
CAUTIONS :-
Black sliding barrel with threads is NOT TO BE LUBRICATED - It will catch dust.
Lens focuses past infinity as per its design.
To insert this lens into the Leica M body with the not included adapter that I show, please keep the lens at infinity mark, otherwise the black tube hits the M rangefinder.  From then on one can shoot 1/2 size to infinity with focusing in the live mode of Leica M 240.
Aperture on this lens is clickless.
Glasses are clean - No Scratches, Fungus or Cleaning Marks. HINT OF STATIC DUST IN THE OPTICAL PATH.
Aperture Blades are dry, focus is smooth.
THIS LENS DATES to 50's or earlier - PLEASE EXPECT THAT.
In my 45 years of collecting photo gear, I have never come across a lens, as beautifully crafted as this one.  IT IS REALLY A TRUE WORK OF ART.
