Completed CROSS STITCH - MERRY MOUSE NURSERY RHYMES“The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe”
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe,
She had so many children she didn’t know what to do;
She gave them some broth without any bread;
She spanked them all soundly and put them to bed.
Stitched Area 7” x 8 3/4”, Fabric area 13 3/8” x 14 5/8”
These patterns came from a book Merry Mouse Book of Nursery Rhymes - 19 designs total, my mother did 7. From the 1980s. Some have hoop marks and small stains, which I will note above - I recommend you wash AND press these before framing. Prefer to leave that to the buyer as I fear I might damage the piece.
We will be listing many completed cross stitch embroidery pieces over the next several weeks. These were done by my mother over the past 60+ years. It was one of her favorite hobbies and she was still making them until last year when her health forbade it. We came across over 100 pieces, stored in a few different tubs and some that were framed. Although we selected favorites for her daughters and granddaughters, there are plenty to share with you. Some are signed, some are not. She used kits as well as patterns out of books. Some she my have purchased while living in Gettysburg. I will list the sizes, etc, but I am clearly not an expert, so if you have any questions, please ask. Thank you for looking.
