    This auction is for an amazingly well preserved Space Discovery Set by Mattel from 1968.  This set part of Mattel’s Man In Space – Major Matt Mason Series.
    The set includes (per the advertising on the box):
    Callisto
    – Mysterious Alien with advanced mental powers – collects and analyzes space specimens with space sensor.
    Doug Davis
    – Space Scientist – Rocketry – in flexible space suit and helmet
    Space Crawler
    with unlimited power – Crawls over anything! Always lands on its feet! (battery powered – 2 “D” batteries, not included)
    Space Bubble
    – Tows Behind Space Crawler 0 Rolls 360 degrees over plant terrain – Gyro Seat Control Center Keeps Astronaut Upright.
    Space Power Suit!
    – Portable Power Environment for Planet Work – Remote Control Power Claw – Telescoping Power Hammer.
    This set is in excellent shape.  However, it is used.  It is NOT mint in box… and the box is not mint by any means; probably a 5 out of 10.  However it does display very well.
    Doug and Callisto do not have any broken wires.  Doug’s helmet is in excellent condition.  The crawler runs but is not perfect.  The battery compartment is clean with no old battery leakage.  It comes without batteries from me.  The Space Crawler tow line and hook are there and the mechanism works!
    There are directions for the Space Crawler, the Space Power Suit Pak, Callisto, and the Space Bubble.  There are no directions for Doug Davis, but since it is just him and a helmet, there may not have been one in the first place.
    The decals are about half applied.  There are two sheets of what is left to be applied.
    I see no damage to the space suit or the space bubble (or any other item for that matter.)
    There is also a MMM Man in Space Brochure.
