VINTAGE 1960s JAPAN TIN TOY PLANET EXPLORER X-80 BAT OP FLYING SAUCER FOR PARTS

THIS TOY IS IN POOR CONDITION. IT DOES NOT WORK, AND IS OFFERED FOR DISPLAY OR PARTS. Up for grabs here is a vintage, battery operated, tin toy. It should run on 2 D cell batteries, but the the contacts on one side are missing. I do not believe that this toy can EVER be made to work. This flying saucer / space ship is marked: "PLANET EXPLORER X-80." It was made in Japan by "Masudaya" / "Modern Toys" in the 1960's. (The markings and logo are on the underside, but they are mostly obscured by rust.) It measures approx. 8 inches wide. The top has great tin litho graphics showing three astronauts / spacemen. It's a shame about the condition, because this is really a pretty cool toy. Sadly, it has a good deal of scattered rust, as seen in the above pictures. You can hear one or more parts ratting around inside the toy. It may offer some usable parts: The white dome is not cracked. (It has some stains inside, I but I THINK if you open the toy, it could be cleaned.) The battery cover is still present. All 4 wheels are still present. It still makes a fairly decent "shelf sitter" - but will certainly disappoint the condition conscious collector.
