    Description

Spectacular vintage silverplate (not sterling) picture frame.
Over-the-top Victorian Revival Rococo design featuring numerous cherubs (I count 9) modelled in very high relief, almost 3-dimensional.
Opening for the photo measures about 2.5" x 3.5" and please also see tape measure pics. Probably intended for use with a lightly trimmed 3x5" or 4x6" photo.
It comes across as a nice-sized piece and makes an impressive statement on the tabletop.
Comes from a local Dallas estate, well-signed as shown "RC" and "Silverplate" and "Sheffield, England."
Given the quality of the frame and the fact that it is silverplate and not sterling I suspect it probably dates ca. the early 1980s during the time period when the price of silver briefly exploded to astronomical levels.
Although it is silverplate and not sterling the quality of the silverplating and overall piece is such that it will completely fit in with a display of sterling frames with no apologies, or a very impressive affordable frame in this aesthetic for gift-giving purposes.
Excellent vintage condition with typical wear including some wear and polishing residue on the blue velvet. However, typical light wear only, nothing obnoxious or concerning. no pings, dings, dents, excessive tarnish, disfiguring scratches, or other problems. Retains its glass which has no problems.
